All levels welcome
During this art retreat, artists of all levels will learn about Agnes Grochulska's approach to painting portraits. Participants will have the chance to practice drawing from life models, create their own oil painting following Agnes' instructions, and have an opportunity to watch Agnes paint along with the group.
Each day of this workshop will focus on a different aspect of Agnes’ painting process:
Day 1: Drawing - Portrait and figure drawing practice from models as preparation for a gestural approach to painting.
Day 2: Line - Creating an underdrawing on canvas.
Day 3: Light and Shadow - Establishing light and shadow in oil paint.
Days 4 & 5: Colour - Painting the portrait using a deliberately chosen colour palette.
During this all-inclusive art retreat meals will be home-cooked and eaten as a group in the dining room or outside when the weather is nice, which should be most of the time in September! Also included during the week will be a trip to the local town of Vinci and a wine tour and tasting at the venue.
This workshop will take place at Agriturismo Streda, a converted farmhouse and winery located in Chianti, just a 5 minute drive from Vinci (the birthplace of Leonardo Da Vinci).
The agriturismo is located in the Tuscan hills, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, you can enjoy the stunning view whilst relaxing by the swimming pool, walking through the vineyards, or sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine.
