Workshop Description

Join us for a week of oil painting in the Italian countryside with Alex Kanevsky. During this week-long workshop participants will focus on painting models in the environment. There will be two models and, depending on the weather, we will choose to paint them indoors or outside in the landscape. Both approaches present some interesting technical challenges that we will address; such as how to make a composition where the model belongs in an environment, where to begin and which part to focus on, questions of scale, depth and placement, light, texture and color variations indoors vs. in the landscape. Alex will give one-on-one feedback throughout the week. Be prepared to fully immerse yourself in painting for an entire week, learning new and valuable information.

During this all-inclusive art retreat, meals will be home-cooked by our brilliant Tuscan chef, and eaten together in our large dining room, or outside on the terrace with a view of the vineyards. After class you will have free use of the grounds to explore, including the swimming pool, woodland, lake and olive groves. Join us for evenings around the fire, or for our after class events, such as a night of live music, pizza night using the outdoor pizza oven, and a tour of the vineyards and tasting of the wine produced here at the venue. If you need to unwind after class there is also a volleyball/badminton net, football field, and a games room with table tennis and table football. Otherwise feel free to continue practicing your art, the studio is always open.

This is a chance to focus on you and your art, you'll be living and working together, and alongside Alex, with the opportunity to dive deep into eachother's knowledge and experience, building relationships, whilst making the most of the surrounding nature in this beautiful Tuscan setting.
