Workshop Description
Join us for an all-inclusive week of watercolor painting in the countryside of Italy with Olga Litvinenko. Partcipants will spend five days learning Olga's techniques and approach to figurative and portrait painting in watercolor. You can expect to learn useful tips and techniques about the expressive possibilites of watercolor, as Olga carefully guides the class through topics such as color, tone, saturation, and composition, all of which aspects come together to create lifelike figurative watercolour paintings with form and expression. During the first two days we will work from figurative life models and for the remaining three days participants will work from Olga's photo references, using what they have learnt from the previous days and adding an emphasis on creating a painting with a narrative, feeling and character. Olga will give detailed painting demonstrations during this workshop, and each participant will receive individual feedback and guidance throughout the week.
During this all-inclusive art retreat, meals will be home-cooked and eaten together in our large dining room or outside when the weather is nice. In the evenings participants will have free use of the grounds to explore, including the swimming pool, woodland, lake and olive groves. There is also a volleyball net, and a games room with table tennis and table football. During the week we will host some evening entertainment which everyone is welcome to join, such as a wine tour, pizza night, evenings around the fire pit and more..
The Venue
This workshop will take place at Antico Borgo La Torre, a converted farmhouse and winery located in Chianti, 25km from Florence.

"For me watercolor is the most interesting medium, with the widest opportunity for experiments and new discoveries - the most emotional and exciting material. With watercolor I feel the greatest range and potential for my creative tasks and opportunities. Watercolor is my own way to freedom in creativity! I get great satisfaction and replenishment of vitality coming into contact with this wonderful kind of graphic art. Today, this gentle and beautiful technique is experiencing its Renaissance...
"I use my own photographic material, as well as drawing from life models. Figurative art is one of the most complex and interesting genres of painting. I like to immerse myself in the character and emotional mood of a person. It really gives me the greatest joy and satisfaction when I manage to convey my feelings, especially when the viewer feels it too. It is important not only to draw the figure anatomically correctly, but also to convey their character - creating an image, and not just a copy." - Olga
