July's Top Picks for a Night out in Florence

For a chilled out evening with live music check out Superfox

Via della Vigna Vecchia, 27

Superfox Firenze

Located close to Santa Croce, Superfox is a newly opened café/ cocktail bar popular among young ex pats and English speakers, but with a growing local crowd. It has a fun, relaxed atmosphere and is open every night until 2am. The cocktails are great, the food is delicious and their homemade ice tea is a must have on hot Summer days. The décor has a classic, cool arty feel, featuring some beautiful oil paintings by local artists (plus a few of our posters which the owner kindly let me stick up all over the walls!)

The best time to visit is a Wednesday when they have an open mic night, featuring some incredible voices. I’ve explored the music scene in Florence from top to bottom, regularly visiting Blues and Jazz nights at my local favourites; Volume, Jazz Club and La Cite (all definitely worth a look in during the colder months) but when I stumbled across Superfox I was blown away by the voice coming from inside, received with excitement and appreciation from the packed out crowd. It’s a must visit with a unique and friendly feel.

If you want to catch the Euro’s this Summer visit Fiorino Sull’ Arno

Lungarno Guglielmo Pecori Giraldi

Walking around Florence at night this Summer you will come across loads of fun outdoor bars with big pop-up screens showing the football, but Fiorino Sull’ Arno is my personal favourite. It’s located right next to the river (hence the name) and not only offers a great selection of drinks, but has a brilliant restaurant producing typical Italian cuisine. The pizzas are some of the best I’ve tasted in Florence. Or, if you’re not hungry enough for a full meal, try one of their tasty cocktails and generous aperitivo.

It’s all outdoors - green, spacious, and a favourite for locals. Last summer I was drawn to this place because if the brilliant variety of live music, set on a big outdoor stage. Featuring Blues, Latin, Swing and even nights of Tango dancing; if you’re a music fan you will definitely find what you’re looking for here.

But for now you can grad a table and watch the Euro Cup almost every evening. If you pick a night when Italy are playing, you will find the place packed out with people taking up every table and spread out all over the grass cheering on their team. The vibe is exciting, and full of Italian passion at its best!

How about relaxing by the River Arno at a beach bar? Try Easy Living

Lungarno Benvenuto Cellini, 69R

This is easily one of the coolest spots in Florence and the best place to visit during the hot Summer months. When this place first opened everyone thought the idea of a beach bar in Florence would fail, but it's proved them all wrong and is consistently one of the liveliest places to hang out on the weekend.

You can start your evening at their restaurant; the specialties include seafood and pizzas, and it's honestly some of the best food I've eaten in the city. After dinner head down the steps to the beach bar where you can enjoy a cocktail sitting on the sand by the River Arno. The food and drinks are all fairly priced and the service is efficient.

Easy Living Firenze

The beach itself is surprisingly big and they often use this space to host events, such as beach yoga every Wednesday evening. However, the best time to visit is on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening, where Easy Living are hosting live music and DJ sets just in time to watch sunset.
